Ingredients
If you’d like to add more greens, you can’t go wrong with kale or spinach, so feel free to experiment to find the right mix of ingredients that works best for you and your taste buds.
Banana Berry Smoothie:
- 8-12 strawberries
- 2 bananas
- 2 scoops Greek yogurt
- 1 glass of milk
- 1 glass of water (optional)
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp honey
- ice cubes
Simple, but oh so delicious!
A Refreshing Smoothie
As you can see, this smoothie recipe isn’t complicated at all, but it’s super refreshing and certainly packs a punch.
I personally love having this smoothie in the morning because it gives me that much-needed lift, and it also allows me to skip my coffee.
Strawberries
Who doesn’t love strawberries?
Packed with antioxidants and powerful flavors, strawberries are a nutritious treat. Some may say that blending them is a waste because they are so nice to eat fresh.
I do agree with that to some extent, but when I have other fruits and veggies ready to blend, I love adding some strawberries to the mix just to make the smoothie a bit more energizing.
Bananas
The same applies to bananas. They are one of my favorite fruits, not just for eating as a healthy snack but also to add to my smoothie recipes.
But did you that bananas not only taste great but also have some unique benefits?
Bananas are loaded with a great variety of different vitamins and minerals, such as magnesium, manganese, potassium, zinc, B-vitamins and vitamin C, to name a few.
Bananas contain tryptophan, a chemical that gets converted into serotonin, a neurotransmitter produced by the brain to help lift your mood.
The potassium in bananas is a mineral that can give your brain a bit of an energy boost and keep you more alert. Eat a couple of bananas before doing an exam, a job interview, or a long drive, and you’ll be just fine.
Extras
You can experiment with the extra ingredients to add to this smoothie, but I find that cinnamon adds a nice burst of spice that gives this drink a nice punch.
The tablespoon of honey is optional, but I often like that extra bit of sweetness, especially when I drink this banana berry smoothie in the morning.
In regards to the yogurt, it’s perfectly fine to add plain yogurt, but I’m a fan of Greek yogurt, so I always buy that. I particularly like the thickness of it.
