The ripe mango in this recipe should have a typically dark yellow to orange color, which means it’s sweet and mixes well with the sour kick of the Greek Yogurt. The cinnamon adds a nice counteracting flavor for good balance.

5. Watermelon Greek Yogurt Smoothie

My mantra with smoothies has always been that “all combinations are worth a try”. The same goes for this very interesting recipe, with watermelon, coconut milk, and Greek yogurt.

The first sip was a bit of a moment of speechless disbelief at how tasty this drink was.

The sweet juices of the watermelon and the thick honey drown out the sour taste of the Greek yogurt without eliminating its creamy consistency. To increase the acidity of this drink, you can add in some lime juice.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup frozen watermelon cubes
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 2 tsp honey

6. Black Tea Mixed Fruit Smoothie

Apart from smoothies for breakfast, I usually also have some unsweetened black tea, because it contains antioxidants that help speed metabolism and strengthen the immune system.

So when I came across a Greek yogurt smoothie recipe with black tea and fresh fruit, I just had to go and try it out.

Surprisingly, this smoothie is a pleasant mix of wonderful flavors. The tangy and fruity taste of the mixed berries and the creamy sour taste of the Greek yogurt is neutralized by the flavorful black tea.

I added an extra banana for a thicker consistency, and the ground flaxseed and chia seeds add to the texture.

You can find this black tea fruit smoothie recipe over at Kroll’s Korner.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup brewed black tea (cooled)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1 medium banana
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

7. Avocado Greek Yogurt Smoothie

Avocados aren’t just perfect for a guacamole toast, they also make an amazing smoothie, even more so when they’re mixed with creamy Greek Yogurt.

I love how it tastes like an ice cream milkshake without the unhealthy sugars in it. To further up the nutritional value, toss in some kale.

With the lip-smacking sweetness of the avocado and the acidity of the Greek yogurt, the somewhat bitter taste of the kale blurs out, yet you still reap all the health benefits from it.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup chopped kale
  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1/2 of a ripe banana
  • 1 ripe avocado (peeled and cored)
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • 1–3 tbsp honey

8. Blueberry Oatmeal Smoothie
